The Journey Begins: Uncovering a Stolen History
Due to things said growing up as a child, how I was treated differently, I knew within me I didn't belong in that house I was raised in. Even as an adult, addressing Della with questions, as labels go she should have been my mother, yet didn't act like one to me.
Even when I needed medical information about my parents because of a health condition and her or Virgil didn't have them. I was told it's none of my business and leave it alone.
THE BLACK CERTIFICATE
I carried that piece of paper for 55 years. Black background. White text. Official looking seal. It said I was born July 30, 1964, at Harrisonville Hospital in Missouri. It said my parents were Virgil Hudson and Della Hudson. It had a raised stamp that made it feel real when you ran your fingers over it.
I believed it was my birth certificate.

Why I Know What I Know
